This past weekend marked 5 months of being laid off and still not having a job. This past weekend would also have been my 5 year anniversary with the company I was laid off from.
Going through this has definitely been challenging. You have to second and triple check every money decision, some weeks there's enough for food other week's there isn't. I do not wish anyone to have to go through this experience. Ever.
I haven't crafted much. It's been hot here and where I craft isn't as cool as the rest of the house. My husband does try to make it bearable for me to work and play in this space, which I appreciate so much! But when it's over 90 degrees out, there's only so much coolness I can get!
I have a great tribe that has gotten me through these 5 months. Family and great friends. I would be lost without them. Truly lost. Even when I think I am alone, I can call any one of them and they would be there for me. Without a doubt. I am one lucky girl in that regard.
Back to crafting, so very sad to hear about Notions Marketing and the fire they had at their main warehouse. I know at this time, it has affected things I have wanted to buy from American Crafts and Office Supply, but I don't know how else it is going to affect us consumers with other retailers such as Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc. Now is the time to support your local retailers, too. Not just the big box stores. From what I understand, Notions Marketing will be down for at least 6 months minimum. My hearts go out to those whose jobs were lost and hope that many are able to find other work.
That's all I have for now. Have a great crafty week, Everyone!
